Livinglife with Petrolene is a labor of love.  I have struggled for months to decide how to put together this message and information.  I thought about every excuse imaginable not to.  But it breaks my heart to see people suffer with their health.  I’m tired of people trying one diet after the other and still don’t get the results they deserve.  Especially because I know just how simple it is to change.  It’s hard, but it’s simple.

I grew up in a family where addiction was a constant for me.  My mom was an alcoholic and addicted to over the counter medicine and anti-depressants.  It’s a miracle I was born a healthy baby.  By the time I got to university, I was spending my time back and forth between doctors, psychiatrists and therapists treating me for depression.  I was battling with anorexia and hated my body.  Just absolutely hated everything about myself.  

I married the best husband ever at the age of 24 and 26 years later I had my first son.  Things changed.  My life started to get meaning and I was able to pull myself together.  My second son was born 4 years later and life started to happen.  I was 30, working 60-80 hours a week in a corporate job and started neglecting myself.

It was during this vacation, that I saw a picture of myself and decided enough is enough.  That’s when I started with my yo-yo dieting.  You know, just dieting when you feel good. As for the rest of the time, you feel like a failure because you cannot even stick to a diet for 2 days!

It wasn’t until my youngest was diagnosed with ADHD, that I really dedicated myself to start to understand food and the impact it has on your brain and your body.  

It was during this time of research, that I was able to combine my nursing background and my skill and experience  in the pharma research industry, to understand what it is that really makes us sick.


This site is not about diets and what you should eat.  This site is about the purpose of your life and the role your mind plays in every day decisions you’re making.  Including your health.  The bible encourages us to take care of our bodies. The Holy Spirit conveys the idea that our bodies are a sacred place, in which the Spirit not only lives, but is worshiped, revered and honored. 

Sugar addiction is real.  Just like my moms’ addiction. It messes up your brain’s reward system.  Your brain craves for more and you cannot control it.  It’s near impossible.  It has nothing to do with will power, otherwise everybody would be able to shut out the cravings at 11 pm at night.

Together we will walk a journey where I will educate you on how the mind operates and how much power your mind has over your brain and your body.  And how you can be in control of every belief and decision you make regarding your food choices.

So, no matter your religion or belief, you are welcome here.  Your health is my concern and my goal is to empower you to be able to make the right decisions.  And then, when your body is healthy, you can look after your spirit.
